PARKING & BUSING
There is no parking at the start line in Hesperus. Please park at the finish line in the lots listed below, and ride the buses that we provide. Or, feel free to have a friend drop you at the start at Hesperus Church on Highway 140.
We will have a parking coordinator stationed at the entrance to Ska Brewing, and he will direct you to the nearest lot with available space.
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (Turner Drive)
Closets Plus (Turner Drive)
La Plata Electric Association (Frontage Road/Stewart Street)
Century Link (Sawyer Drive)
San Juan Basin Health (Sawyer Drive)
Please allow enough time to find parking, walk to Ska, and board the buses for a 7am departure. A race volunteer will be at the Ska Brewing driveway to help direct you to available parking.
Friday, August 27th, 12pm - 6:30pm: TBK Bank, 259 W. 9th Street.
To beat the crowd, your best bet is to come before 4pm.
If you can't come Friday, your packet will be available at Ska Brewing on Saturday morning, prior to boarding the buses. Please arrive by 6:30am if you still need your packet so we can get you on the bus on time.
You will find six aid stations approximately every two miles starting at mile 2.4. Aid stations will provide water and Powerade. They will also have first-aid bags and cell phones for emergencies.
The aid station near mile 8 will have bananas and other snacks.
The race course uses roads that have minimal vehicle traffic, especially on a Saturday morning. However, please remain alert throughout the race, stay on the shoulder of the road, and obey instructions from course marshals.
State troopers, county sheriffs, and Durango police will be in various locations along the course to alert vehicles to the race in progress.
Feel free to bring a bag to the start line. We will have a vehicle to collect drop bags and transport them to the finish line. Please mark your bag with your name and/or bib number.
Average temperature at 8am in late August is 55 degrees. Expect temperatures to reach 70 degrees by 10am and continue to rise as the morning progresses. Use the aid stations and stay hydrated. While thunder showers are common in August, they typically do not occur before noon.
RESULTS & AWARDS
Race results will be available as quickly as possible and posted at the finish line as well as on our website.
Top male and female finishers in each age group will receive prizes.
There are several great spots along the course to watch the runners go by. We recommend the top of CR 125 (mile 1.5), the bottom of CR 125 (mile 5.5), and on CR 210 about 1.5 miles up from Bodo where the lake begins. All of these spots have pull-outs where you can park.
The race will be professionally timed with timing chips. Please ensure that your bib number is visible and on the front of your shirt, as this is the backup timing system in the unlikely event that your chip fails to register a time.
We welcome runners of all abilities, and we offer a generous time limit of 3 hours 15 minutes. This is roughly a 15 minute/mile pace. If you are slower, you must carry your own water and a cell phone for emergencies as the aid stations will close before you arrive.
REFUNDS & TRANSFERS
As with most races, we are unable to offer refunds, transfers, or deferrals. This is true regardless of the reason or circumstances for the request.
Homewood Suites is our official hotel partner for the race. They are located just one block from Ska Brewing. Use this link to our group block for discounted room rates. Or call them and mention group code "T13" or group name "Thirsty 13" when making your reservation.
